This course seeks to improve the essential writing abilities, language, and examination methodologies required for the Advanced Writing test.

You may use any books in this series in class or for independent study. You may utilise this book with or without a tutor since the course will lead you through the tasks step by step.

If you are studying in a group, your instructor will instruct you on utilising each activity. Some exercises can be considered as talks, which might be a valuable occasion for sharing ideas and strategies with other students.

How is Improve your Skills: Advanced Writing organised?

The course consists of 12 lessons, each designed to enhance a specific Writing ability (e.g. planning or using paragraphs). Each lesson focuses on a topic that frequently appears on the Advanced test.

Each unit includes:

  • Skills development: explanation, examples and assignments to build and practise relevant Writing skills for general usage and the test. Each ability is broken down into a series of basic steps, explaining why each ability is essential for the Advanced level.
  • Vocabulary: words that will come in handy on the Advanced exam.
  • Focus on how each skill connects to the exam, then practice with genuine Advanced-sty r) problems to simulate an actual exam.

Skills tip boxes are scattered throughout the text with helpful information and suggestions for approaching the test writing assignments.
