Nowadays companies and other organisations are requiring their employees to wear a uniform. What is your viewpoint on this? What are the advantages and disadvantages of wearing a uniform?

Requiring individuals to dress their uniforms when at work in many companies and organisations became an enormously controversial issue in this new generation. Uniforms resemble one’s own identity, whether you are a student or a working professional. In this essay, I will discuss both the advantages and disadvantages of dressing uniforms.
Among the advantages, dressing a prescribed uniform in a work field is very eye-catching and more formal to look at. In this way, clients will treat them with due respect despite the success and failure in their duty. What is more is that it represents the uniqueness of one’s own character no matter how good or bad an individual is, which attributes more on physical aspects. For example, many people in my country nowadays prefer to take up nursing course because it is a noble and caring profession. It is attractive to look individuals wearing white uniforms although the workloads are not easy, caring for the sick is tremendously tiring and did not earn much in their monthly salary.
On the other side of this argument, crime is on the increase as a disadvantage because some will abuse powers vested to them to their subordinates and local communities, like in the national and local governments, especially in the criminology department. By acting illegally not in accordance with the law, that will simply degrade the reputations and give them negative images to people in a society. Moreover, policemen here in the Philippines can be seen scattered in the streets abusing people who they thought were not doing the “right way”.
In my own conclusion, dressing a uniform attire correlates with responsibility. Accountability of our own actions must be in a harmonious tandem to avoid further conflicts.

Companies and organisations are enforcing their employees to wear a uniform. Is this helpful for the employer or employee is a debating topic, but here, I will describe some of my views regarding this topic either they are in favour or in opposite opinion of this view.
First of all, a uniform presents itself as a dress code, no one feels superior or inferior to anyone and that provides an employee the comfort on their job, that ultimately leads to growing in profit. One of my friends was working as a grinding man in a company and he always complained about the feeling of being inferior to their employee, but when the company restricted all staffs to wear a uniform, it helped him to feel comfortable on his job place. Secondly, an employee wearing uniform has no tension of contaminating the dress and everybody feels easiness in their working and they work freely all kinds of work in the company.
In spite of above-mentioned advantages, there are some disadvantages. Firstly, it is very difficult for an employee to wear the same dress over and over again, each one gets bored and try to avoid being in a uniform. This thing affects their performance on work. Secondly the man in uniform if having an allergy of specific dresses like cotton, he always feels bad and tries to avoid. Another reason, he always worries about their precious things that were kept in their dresses and ultimately he works partially hurt that leads to cut in the production.
We find a way to tackle the situation by enforcing the uniform for the employees who are working in the field or on a technical machine, while uniform would not be necessary for peoples working in clerical jobs or those who are sitting on managerial positions.

These days, a lot of profit and non-profit organisations provide and necessitate their workers to wear uniforms. Wearing a uniform at work has some benefits and drawbacks, but in my personal opinion, I think the advantages of wearing a work uniform outweighed the disadvantages.
To begin with, some people think that when companies provide uniforms for their employees, it is a negative thing. From the employers’ point view, providing some uniforms for their staffs will increase the companies’ operational cost, especially industries that require a lot of labours. While from the employees’ perspective, they feel that they do not have any choices or freedom in wearing clothes, which might impact on their self-confidences, especially women workers.
On the other hand, many people do not realise that wearing a uniform in the workplace has some positive sides for both organisations and workers. Firstly, as wearing a uniform at the workplace became mandatory, it has saved clothing expenses of each individual worker, whereas employees who work in other companies that do not provide uniforms have to buy their own working apparels. Secondly, by providing uniforms for employees, it will not differentiate the economic class of each employee. As a result, the working environment will be more positive and conducive. Lastly, as employees are travelling or commuting around with their uniforms, they become free advertisements for their companies.
In conclusion, it is true that many corporations and institutions are necessitating their employees to wear uniforms. It has some benefits and drawbacks for both companies and workers, but in my point of view, it has more positive points rather than the negatives one, and I would encourage more companies to provide uniforms for their staffs.

Being formally dressed makes a positive impression of an individual and his devotion towards his work. Taking forward this thought, organisations are mandating its employees to wear formal clothing at work, which in my perspective, makes a positive impact on the customer. However, as indicated by some individuals, it is necessary to have good interpersonal skills for maintaining a long-term relationship with their customers.
There is a famous saying that ‘the first impression is the last impression’, hence a person dressed smartly is more inclined to make an enduring impact on the client at his first appearance than a casually dressed person. At the point when workers are professionally dressed, they feel more confident and behave in a user-friendly manner. Such a decent conduct by the employees of an organisation advances a sound customer association which further builds a strong relationship and is more likely to be appreciated by the client. This, in turn, motivates the staffer to perform better.
Therefore, letting employees dress nicely helps imbibe discipline in them which further increases their productivity. This has also been proved in a survey conducted on the employee productivity that indicates that an individual productivity increase alone by 70% by dressing uniformly at work.
Some people prefer sound interpersonal abilities over sharp dressing for sustaining a strong healthy relation with the customer. They feel that good analytical ability allows employees to understand the customers well, though good oral aptitude serve to pass on the thoughts in better and effective way. This is correct to some extent, but it takes more time for developing a good relation.

Uniforms are usually seen as serving several purposes in the educational institutions, workplace and service organisations; mostly it is aimed to provide identity and recognition but in some way achieves more than solving a dilemma of what to wear to work today. The organisations that implement uniforms have several reasons for such practices, this practice embodies more than the norm of the trade.
Usually, by following this practice the organisations realise several important, internal and external, objectives. I have heard an anecdote of a seasoned banking president who used to have his staff buy their suits from only one tailor in the city, he had standardized the cut and allowed several somber color choices for staff members to pick from, the philosophy, as narrated by one of his staff members, was to create a professional look amongst his staff who feels proud of their profession and give out an authoritative vibe to the people who visited their bank. Some other organisations use the uniforms as a symbol of their corporate identity like airlines, hotels, restaurants, enhancing their visibility to the world outside and causing free advertisement of the “brand” they represent. Of course, the attire places the brand at a different level, if you see an air hostess crisply dressed in an elegant outfit the image of the airline by default jumps up a notch. There are several other reasons as to why uniforms could be an appropriate choice like equality and ranking among members of the same organisation, a sign of showing preparedness for work and so on.
Having said all above it does not mean that uniforms do not bring any downsides, the foremost is the monotony that members feel in their lives, wearing the same colours and clothes every day can lead to losing the enthusiasm as envisaged at the time of designing the uniforms. Imagine a person who is not taking good care of his/her attire and creating an image that is contrary to image the organisation is trying to build – this unification as can develop the brand, can also destroy it because of a single person not carrying it appropriately. There are several other possible reasons why uniforms could be detrimental to the cause of equality/corporate image like poor reproduction in repetitive orders by the supplier leading to several shades of the colours/cuts of the outfits that pass for a uniform, instead is an attempt to unify the form failing flagrantly.
