You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Sample Answer 1:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I have recently noticed a job advertisement in a local newspaper for the sales executive position in the City Museum shop. I would like to apply for the post as a part-time employee during the summer holiday. I am hoping that you would consider my candidacy for the post and give me a chance to discuss it further in a formal interview.

I have completed my graduation in accounting and have sound knowledge of customer care. Besides, I have two years of experience as a front desk officer in a telecom company. As I will be free during the summer vacation, I would like to work for your museum shop that primarily sells antique items, books, journals and souvenirs. I am quite confident that I would be a valuable asset to your team.

The reason for applying for this position is to work in a post that is equally challenging and rewarding. At the same time, I will be able to meet people from diverse cultures and regions. This would definitely make my holidays meaningful and exciting.

I look forward to meeting you soon.

Yours faithfully,

Shanthy Devi

Sample Answer 2:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to apply for the part-time job at your City Museum shop in response to a job advert that was published in the Daily Observer on 27th March 2020. I am a third-year student at Lincon College and my major is history. We are currently on our summer break and I am hoping to gain some valuable work experience and would like to discuss my possible employment opportunity in your museum shop.

Our college has declared a summer holiday from 1st June to 30th March 2020. I will be free during these days and would be able to work full-time or part-time as per your requirement.

I worked in a local history museum in my hometown for eight months in early 2018. In addition to that, I am quite good with computers and numbers. I believe I would be a great asset to your business.

I am passionate about history and museums since my childhood. There is no Museum in this city that I haven’t been to. I love your Museum as it has a wide variety of historical objects and an abundant audio-visual library. I know how important the shop is in terms of selling antiques and collector’s items to visitors. I am positive that I can boost your sales.

I believe that my enthusiasm for history and museum and relevant skills will make me a good candidate for this position. I am ready to discuss further in a formal interview at any time.

Yours faithfully,

Sandeep Parekh

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to apply for a part-time job in your museum shop during the holiday. I am very keen to have a part-time job during this summer vacation, specifically in a shop where I would be able to learn and meet people from diverse backgrounds. I am hoping that you would consider my application and give me the chance to work for you.

I am a teacher in an elementary grammar school and I teach history. I am 26 years old and have completed my graduation from arts major. I can speak English, Sinhala and Tamil fluently. Last year, I worked in a large bookshop during my vacation and enjoyed it very much. I would like to meet new people and serve my position with dedication, commitment and hard work.

I enjoyed going to your museum a few months ago and I spent a considerable amount of time there. I visited your museum shop with a team and I am familiar with the types of items your store sells to visitors. I think you will be kind enough to consider me as a suitable candidate for this position.

I look forward to hearing from you soon and further discuss my candidacy for the job.

Yours faithfully,

Ama Nikole
