Describe a person who helps to protect the environment

You should say:

  • Who this person is;
  • How this person protects the environment;
  • Whether it is difficult for the person to protect the environment;
  • And explain how you felt about it.

Sample Answer

Well…talking about people who are passionate about environmental protection, off the top of my head, the first one that comes to mind is my uncle. If memory serves correctly, my uncle’s 45 now. He works at a university as a history professor. It’s hard to say if he’s an absolute environmentalist, but he really cares about what happens to the environment and related news stories, especially the negative ones.

I live practically within spitting distance of his house and I hang out with him a lot, so it’s safe to say I know him pretty well. One good habit of his I’ve noticed is that he rarely uses plastic bags and always has a reusable bag with him when he goes grocery shopping.

As far as I know, when it comes to living a greener life, my uncle always starts small by doing the little things in our everyday life, like picking up litter on the street, using less plastic products, and taking public transportation as much as possible. It seems very normal to him. I think those green acts have become a part of his lifestyle, and it’s definitely not a burden to him.

As for my feelings about what he does, well, I do admire his awareness of environmental protection; more importantly, he doesn’t just talk the talk; he walks the walk. I think that’s the true spirit of an environmentalist, even though he never admits he’s one.
