Another set of IELTS practice materials that are trusted and highly appreciated by readers is Ready for IELTS Workbook. The book is designed with exercises that follow the actual curriculum content, to support you in preparing for the IELTS exam. Let’s go through the content and download the Ready for IELTS Workbook PDF Free book at the end of the lesson!

Ready for IELTS Review

Book Contents

Ready for IELTS Workbook is compiled closely to the content of the book Ready for IELTS Student’s Book (or Coursebook) with 14 chapters divided into different topics. Each chapter includes sections: Vocabulary, Listening, Language focus, Reading, Writing.

Each section is designed to be as relevant to the Student’s Book (or Coursebook). At the end of the book, there will be a Listening script and an Answer Key for learners to check.

Specifically, the content of the Ready for IELTS Workbook includes the following sections:

Introduction: introduces the book’s content along with the benefits that the book brings, as well as the commons about the IELTS exam.

Topic-based lessons: includes 14 lessons:

  • Lesson 1: We are all friends now
  •  Lesson 2: Technology – now and then
  •  Lesson 3: Thrill seekers
  •  Lesson 4: Global issues and Opportunities
  •  Lesson 5: The future
  •  Lesson 6: The fruits and nature
  •  Lesson 7: The world of work and education
  •  Lesson 8: Mapping the world
  •  Lesson 9: What is beauty?
  •  Lesson 10: Is it art?
  •  Lesson 11: The family and society
  •  Lesson 12: Traveling around the world
  •  Lesson 13: The importance of infrastructure
  •  Lesson 14: Money and well-being

Target Readers

This book is not for those who have lost basic English, it is only suitable for those with a band score of 5.0 or higher who want to reach band 7.0.

Pros & Cons

As you can see, there are sections in the Student’s Book (or Coursebook), and the Workbook will be divided into the same sections. Sticking to such content will make it easier for readers to understand, remember the lesson and practice in the right direction, without going astray.

The types of exercises in the book are also very diverse, and do not repeat too much, this avoids boredom for readers as well as provides a more varied source of knowledge for them, helping them not to be confused in the exam.

The book is illustrated with vivid and engaging images.

The biggest weakness is that there is no Reading section in this book series, if you are looking to improve this skill then this is not an option for you.

This is a workbook to reinforce the knowledge you have learned before, so the exercises in each Listening, Reading and Writing section are relatively short and just enough. If you want a complete topic, you should look for another option.

Ready for IELTS Study Guide

Although compiled closely with Student’s Book (or Coursebook). But in the Student’s Book (or Coursebook) there is a section for Speaking, but not in the Workbook. You can go online to practice with IELTS Speaking questions, or find a friend to practice with.

The number of exercises in this book is not much, just enough. If you want to complete a Listening or Reading test (including 40 sentences), look for Test Practices, or choose to use other titles!

After taking the test, check again with the Answer key and check the parts you got wrong. Studying the incorrect details during practice helps me recognize the mistakes, and through that, I learn a lot of new knowledge.
